Scott Johnson, Co-Director
Scott, a New Jersey native and a Towson University graduate with a BA in Applied Mathematics, has lived in Virginia for over 30 years. He and his wife, Tracy, have three grown daughter: Sarah, Abby, and Emma. Scott recently retired from a 35 year career in Information Technology, and has been focusing on teaching the Bible and encouraging people to live in right relationship with God on a daily basis. He is actively involved in the local church where he led the men’s ministry and served as an Elder. In his free time, Scott loves to fish, ride his bike, play pickleball or any other outside activity.
Sarah Schultz, Co-Director
Sarah grew up in Virginia Beach and is a graduate from Old Dominion University with a degree in music. She has a passion for ministry, music, and helping people and organizations grow. After college, Sarah worked as the Director of Music and the Youth Director at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Norfolk for two years, and later as the Church Administrator at Christ Community Church in Virginia Beach. Sarah met her husband, Adam, when leading Young Life in VB. They both worked at the high school, and were volunteer leaders together for 6 years! They have two free-spirited and sweet children -Isla and Graydon- who keep them on their toes. Sarah loves going on adventures with her family, the ocean, worshipping, driving with the windows down, and finding beauty in unexpected places.
Ross Byrd, Teaching Director / Co-Founder
Ross Byrd is founder and director of Surf Hatteras, a destination surfing camp in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He and his wife, Hannah, have four children, Ila, Susannah, Samuel, and Isaiah. He received his BA from the University of Virginia and his MA in theology from Reformed Theological Seminary. He served for six years as a director of youth and undergraduate ministries within the Episcopal Church, and more recently served for four years as Associate Pastor of Christ Community Church in Virginia Beach. Ross is also an accomplished songwriter, and he is currently working on a novel. He can talk for a long time about Billy Joel, dinosaurs, Middle Earth, and Christopher Nolan movies.
Christina Webb, Communications and Brand Manager
Christina is a Charlottesville native and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2014 with a BA in English. After working for a few years, she moved west to attend the Bethel School of Ministry, where she graduated with a Ministry + Creative Arts certification. She moved back east to Norfolk in September of 2019 and started working with VB Fellows in August of 2020. Investing in the lives of young people is one of her greatest passions, be it through mentoring, coaching, or leading small groups. She also works as a marketing specialist for a DC nonprofit. Christina spends her free time reading John Mark Comer or C.S. Lewis on her front porch, honing her photography skills, writing, playing basketball, gardening, and traveling.
