Introducing the Virginia Beach Fellows Arts Track
The Virginia Beach Fellows Arts Track is now accepting applications for its inaugural year—a unique opportunity for artists to grow in their calling while serving the Kingdom through creative expression.
As a specialized track within the Virginia Beach Fellows program, we are inviting up to four emerging artists across a wide range of creative disciplines to join a year of deep formation, intentional community, and creative impact. Artists can include visual artists, musicians, “artisans”, writers, or any other creative who’s cultivated his/her talent to the point of being able to submit a body of work that demonstrates skill and excellence in a particular medium, and feels a calling to the arts.
In addition to participating in all aspects of the traditional Virginia Beach Fellows program, those selected will:
Work 20 hours per week, contributing to a meaningful vocation
Dedicate 12 hours per week to their artistic discipline: creating, collaborating, and engaging the community in redemptive art that enriches the city
Apprentice under experienced, faith-driven artistic mentors, receiving guidance, encouragement, and wisdom
Receive a $13,000 grant to cover the $7,500 program fee and support their creative endeavors
Immerse themselves in the Virginia Beach community, bringing beauty and hope through the arts
To apply, candidates must submit an application and portfolio that reflects their artistic vision. A three-year total commitment to the Virginia Beach area is also required, which includes 9-months as a VB Fellow, and two additional years in the Virginia Beach community, as we seek to raise up rooted artists who will invest in the spiritual and cultural flourishing of this city.
